After School Knitting for Kids is Back! Third Thursdays of each month at 3:15 (ish) to 4:30 (ish)
December 14th (second Thursday, due to holidays)
Yarn & Yoga is happy to announce that we will again be offering an after school knitting group for kids. Parents are welcome (and encouraged!) to join in, but particularly with children older than first grade, parents aren't "required!"
If your child is a new knitter, it will be best if they have a lesson before joining the group. You can call the shop to set that up. Lessons are $15 for two sessions; scholarships are available.
Linda and Anne will be available to help with knitting projects, and will introduce a "fun project" to make each afternoon that we meet.
We have kid needles and lots of donated yarns to use, so cost of supplies is very reasonable or non-existent. There is NO COST for the group, though we ask families who feel they can to make a donation to our "Food Shelf Jar."
Let us know if you and your children are interested, or just come. Look forward to seeing you on the 21st!
Coming very soon to a shop near you! Starting July 7 and running through July 23, 23 shops across Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine will be participating in this fun event meant to encourage you to explore all of our shops. Your first $20 purchase will get you the cool canvass bag and passport. Take these to every shop (or as many as you can!), get your passport stamped, and you'll be eligible to win the Grand Prize - last year's was worth over $500 of yarn and accessories, and we have many more shops this year so it's bound to be bigger. Each shop will have special sales or goodies available only to participants making your time on the road well worth the trip. So, get a couple fiber buddies together, and hit the roads! You won't believe the terrific shops hidden in our hills of these great states. And start right here at Yarn & Yoga. You can "buy" your bag now and then be completely ready on July 7 for all the fun.!
A good customer and friend shared an idea with us that her lovely daughter-in-law shared with her, so now we're sharing it with you! Knit a Welcome Blanket and join in this effort to respond with a warm welcome instead of a wall to refugees and immigrants. As stated on the group's website: "The blankets you make, along with your enclosed notes, will be displayed together in an inaugural show at the SMART Museum at University of Chicago beginning in July 2017 and officially opening in September 2017. After the show's close, the blanket packages will be distributed to refugees and other immigrants through resettlement organizations."
Check out the whole website for more information and the pattern. You can also get a copy of the pattern (very simple) here at the shop.
As our thank you, if you buy your wool from us, bring in your finished blanket and we will offer you a coupon for your next purchase of non-consignment, non-sale items.
